"Three councilors from Sobral are among the seven people arrested in an operation launched on the morning of this Tuesday (11), after investigations into the alleged influence of a criminal organization in the municipality's elections in 2024 and 2026. According to the investigation, the faction charged up to R$60,000 in 'tolls' were collected so that candidates could gain access to certain neighborhoods in the city.
Investigations indicate that the Comando Vermelho faction attempted to manipulate voters' political choices through coercion and threats. According to TV Verdes Mares, the arrested councilors are: Carlos do Calisto (PSB), Junim do Povo (Pode), and Mario Vicktor (União). The councilors were also suspended from their positions for an initial period of 180 days by court order."
